GREANEY, Dennis J., age 64 of Dayton passed away Tuesday September 28, 2010 at Hospice of Dayton. Dennis was born November 13, 1945 in Dayton, Ohio to William J. Greaney Jr. and Josephine Greaney. Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Rosie (Hibner), his children, Nathan, Brian (Angie) and Maureen Greaney, stepson Josh (Candy) and grandchildren Liam Greaney and MacKenzie Hibner. Siblings: Barbara (Albert) Gregg, Michael (Sue) Greaney, Patrick (Jeanne) Greaney, Terence (Linda) Greaney all of Dayton Ohio, and sister-in-law Mary Ann Greaney of Grand Lake St. Mary's Ohio. Also surviving Dennis are numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends, including his "family" among the Dayton Municipal Court, the legal community and the Chaminade class of '64. Dennis is predeceased by his parents, William J. Jr. and Josephine and his brother William. Dennis was a lifelong resident of Dayton Ohio and graduated from Chaminade High School in 1964. He received his B.A. from the University of Dayton in 1969 and spent a few years teaching in the Dayton area. He then entered UD law school and received his J.D. in 1978. Dennis was in private practice until 1987 when he went to work as a Magistrate for the Municipal Court until 2005 when he was elected as a Judge for the Dayton Municipal Court in 2005, serving in that capacity for the rest of his life. Dennis was an active member of St. Helen's Parish, Riverside, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations are made to Hospice, the American Kidney Foundation or St. Helen's parish in Dennis' name. The family would also like to express much thanks and gratitude to the staff of Hospice of Dayton for being so accommodating with all of the visitors. A special thanks to Dr. Karen Kirkham for helping us through these hard times. Most especially to our family members, friends, City of Dayton employees and Chaminade class of '64 for the support, kindness, prayers and love we received. Friends may call at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME- Beavercreek Chapel, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd. at Grange Hall Rd. on Thursday evening, September 30, 2010 from 4 PM until 8 PM. Prayers will be offered at the funeral home on Friday morning, October 1 at 9:30 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Helen Church, 5080 Burkhardt Rd., Riverside, Ohio 45431, at 10 AM Friday, October 1, 2010. Entombment will be at Calvary Cemetery following the Mass.
