David John Hoffman, age 78 of Englewood, passed away on Monday, May 15, 2023. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and worked for many years for Doyle James Plumbing & Heating. He was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church. David was also a member of the V.F.W. Post 7741 and the American Legion Post#675. He was affectionately known as "THE SAD MAN" and was a longtime member of Kramer’s Black Cats. He enjoyed spending time with his family and golfing. He is survived by his wife of nearly 55 years: Catherine "Cathie" (Patterson) Hoffman, daughter and son-in-law: Theresa and Christopher Johnson, siblings: Phillip Hoffman, Mary Anne (Jim) Quigley, Joseph Hoffman, Kathy (Sal) Ruggeri, Janet Hoffman, sisters-in-law: Linda (Don) Lawrence, Jennie Tharp, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Albert and Anna (Kimmis) Hoffman and brother-in-law: Charles Patterson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Precious Blood Catholic Church (4961 Salem Ave.) with Father Tony Fortman, C.PP.S. as celebrant. The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. Inurnment will be at the Dayton National Cemetery.
