Dorothy Jayne Lacky-Hargroves

Oxford lost a valuable member of its community on November 25, 2016, with the death of Dorothy J. Lackey-Hargraves, who was born on June 21, 1946, in Dayton, Ohio. Doti was a newlywed and is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Lanny Hargraves (totally devoted to her). She was treated like a Queen (hence, the Tiara!). She is also survived by her beloved brother and sister-in-law, James and Cynthia Gebhart with their two sons Christopher and Brenden. Her family was her life! She couldn’t have been prouder of her two nephews!

Doti was preceded in death by her parents, Alban (Jerry) and Jayne Gebhart, and her older brother (passed at age seven) Richard. While her family is deeply saddened by her passing, we believe that she is living in a mansion with her parents and brother, and is living without pain or debility.

She leaves behind her fur baby, Annie. It was paramount to Doti to rescue her dogs and give them a loving home. Four basset hounds preceded her in her death; Ebby, Connie, Beulah, and Tess.

In the past, Doti was an enthusiastic collector of bears. Her personality of child-like joy was evident here! She was an avid reader! How many books can one person read? She read a book per day and more on her good days! Between her family, “Annie,” reading, and Kiwanis, she didn’t have time for much more. Her plate was full!

Doti worked as a travel expert for AAA for an astounding 29 years and then moved to Travel-4-U for another ten years. Doti and her husband have been contributing members to the city of Oxford for most of their lives. Doti was very proud of her contributions to Oxford, Ohio for her work in the Kiwanis organization. She was treasurer for the local and regional 5th division of the Kiwanis Club. Her favorite activity of the Kiwanis Club was the pancake breakfast. She was very proud of her contributions that foster activities, leadership, values, and youth services.

She lived her life with happiness, smiles, positivity, love, and levity! So, please help us celebrate Doti’s life by joining us at visitation hours on Thursday, December 01, 2016 from 5-7pm. Her funeral will be on Friday, December 02, 2016, at 11AM. All events will take place at Ogle & Paul R. Young Funeral Home located at 5086 College Corner Pike, Oxford, Ohio 45056. Her interment takes place immediately following the funeral service at Woodside Cemetery, Oxford, Ohio. Please take a moment and share your memories with us on-line at www.oglepaulyoungfuneralhome.com
